We hear about immigrants, refugees, and asylees all over the media – but rarely do we get to hear directly from those coming to America to make a new home. Join us as we welcome Senai Abella Obang and Hari Maya Dhamalatwo individuals who were forced to flee their homes, eventually settling here in Baltimore. They will share their stories of escaping their homeland and the challenges of building a new home in a foreign land.

This program is part of the Recovery & Renewal: The Immigration Experience series, presented in partnership with Baltimore Hebrew Congregation. This series is made possible through the generosity of the Lois Rosenfield Caring Fund of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation. This program is also presented in partnership with The Golden Door: Storytelling for Social Justice.

The presentation will be followed by a facilitated discussion and light refreshments (dietary laws observed). In connection with this series a bus will be available from Baltimore Hebrew Congregation (BHC) to the Jewish Museum of Maryland (JMM). The bus will depart BHC for the JMM at 5:15, then depart the JMM at 8:30pm following the program and reception. Bus reservations will close 48 hours before the programs start time (see link above). The Recovery & Renewal series is made possible through the generosity of the Lois Rosenfield Caring Fund of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation.
