Sheilah Kaufman, award-winning cookbook author, teacher, and lecturer, has never met a chocolate she didn’t like – and she’s certainly not alone! Chocolate is the most craved food in the United States and a truly global history. In this presentation Shelia explores the history of Jews and chocolate while also imparting her expert knowledge of using chocolate in the kitchen. Sheila will also lead a chocolate tasting as part of this program.

About the Presenter:

Sheilah Kaufman, in addition to writing 26 cookbooks, is the food editor of Maryland’s The Town Courier, and a freelance writer and contributing food editor to the Jewish Food Experience and numerous magazines and papers, including Vegetarian Times, Eating Well, and The Washington Post.  She was also the Fancy Food and Gourmet Editor for Gift and Dec Magazine for over 20 years, and developed recipes for Beatrice Foods, Dickinson/Smucker’s, Sunsweet, Gourmet Delight, and Walden Farms.

She has lectured at the Library of Congress Book Festival, Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival, the Textile Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show, Capital Speakers, Les Dames d’Escoffier, Brandeis, Culinary Historians of Washington, the Turkish Embassy, Oasis, and more. Sheila also serves as a culinary editor and mentor for aspiring cookbook authors and food writers.
