Lloyd Street Synagogue Anniversary
November 9th
10am to 5pm Kristallnacht display
1pm Baltimore Museum of Industry Presentation
3pm Technology in the Temple
Help us commemorate the 50th anniversary of the rededication of the Lloyd Street Synagogue with a day that will reveal unexplored sides of the synagogue. We have developed a new tour of the historic Lloyd Street Synagogue, Technology in the Temple. Inspired by our latest exhibit, The A-Mazing Mendes Cohen, the tour will delve into how the technological revelations of Mendes’ lifetime led to the development of this historic landmark. The tour will take place at 3:00pm. If you are unable to attend the tour that day, it will be our Sunday and Monday 3pm tour for the duration of The A-Mazing Mendes Cohen.
We will also be welcoming the Baltimore Museum of Industry for a presentation Mendes’ Baltimore: The Industries that Built a City, which will explore the wider story of the importance of technology in the development of Baltimore.
Our anniversary coincides with the anniversary of Kristallnacht. We are excited to be welcoming Martin Levin Artistic Creations to the museum for a display of his Kristallnacht series. Levin has meticulously recreated the facades of these once wonderful buildings in miniature format. Come and view his series of beautiful handmade synagogues, plus see his two local latest additions, the Lloyd Street Synagogue and B’nai Israel.
