Join author Charles Heller as he shares the riveting adventure and moving recollection of a loving family – his own – nearly destroyed by the Nazis. Born in Czechoslovakia to a Jewish father and Christian mother, raised Roman Catholic and hidden on a farm, ignorant of his own Jewish roots, Dr. Heller explores his personal journey to discover and embrace his heritage. From Communist-controlled Czechoslovakia to a new life in America, Dr. Heller’s story is a long journey of persecution, struggle, and survival.
Following this presentation, Dr. Heller will be signing copies of his book Prague: My Long Journey Home, available for purchase at Esther’s Place: the JMM Shop.
This program is presented in relation to the Stitching History from the Holocaust exhibit, on view April 7 – August 4, 2019. Tickets to public programs include admission to the Museum.
