The history of Jewish Baltimore is one of immigration, acculturation, and economic mobility. In many ways, this same story can be told of Jewish communities across the nation. But delve deeper and a more complete picture emerges. Based on the groundbreaking new book On Middle Ground, this talk will highlight how Baltimore—and in particular, the city’s position as a meeting place between North and South—profoundly shaped the historical experience of its Jewish population.

Prior to the presentation we will hear from Baltimore legend Gil Sandler about the importance of this book. Following, please join us for a book signing and light refreshments, served in observance of dietary laws.
