Follow author Ian Flinn in a journey “behind the curtain,” as he explores both the origins of magic and its place in today’s world.

The concepts, ideas, and intricacies of the history and psychology of magic may surprise you. In this presentation Flinn will share both core historical findings and some major misconceptions about the art of magic.
Talk followed by book signing – copies of Conjuring Curiousity will be available at Esther’s Place, the JMM Shop.

About Ian Flinn: Ian has been performing magic for over a decade for audiences across the United States. The ability to engage and create an experience of wonder for clients has been the drive of Ian’s work since the start. Ian received his Masters in education from New York University and has a distinct focus on using storytelling and magic to preserve the art form.

Ian has done research with leading historical institutions including The CV Starr Center for the American Experience, the Conjuring Arts Research center, and ArtofMagic.com. In addition to live performances and lectures, Ian has also consulted on theatrical performances and for film.

This program is presented in relation to the Inescapable: The Life and Legacy of Harry Houdini exhibit, on display June 24, 2018 – January 21, 2019.
