Annual Giving

Like most major cultural organizations, the Jewish Museum of Maryland relies on community support to sustain its programs, activities, and operations. The Museum needs and welcomes contributions and grants from individuals, families, foundations, and corporations.

The Jewish Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums, one of only eight AAM-accredited history museums in Maryland. In 2000 and again in 2001 the Museum’s exhibitions were honored by the American Association for State and Local History. In recent years, JMM has received operating and project grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, National Endowment for the Arts, Institute of Museum and Library Services, Maryland Historical Trust, Maryland Humanities Council, and the Maryland State Arts Council among others.

However, the Jewish Museum of Maryland needs additional funds in order to maintain its full schedule of exhibitions, programs, publications, and educational outreach. Contributions are welcome at any level.

Special recognition and donor fulfillment is offered to donors at higher levels:

  • Benefactors at the $500-level and above are recognized in the Museum’s annual report and in the Museum lobby for a period of one year.
  • Sponsors of programs, events, publications, and initiatives are acknowledged in publicity and print materials relating to those events.
  • Contributors of $10,000 or more are given permanent acknowledgment in the Museum lobby.
  • Corporate sponsors and patrons are offered special donor fulfillment including free admissions for employees and their families, use of the Museum facilities for events, and prominent mention in paid ads, print materials, and Museum publications.

Planned Giving

Plan Ahead to Help. The Jewish Museum of Maryland. Many friends want to ensure their commitment to the Jewish Museum of Maryland carries on after they are gone, so the JMM can continue to offer vital programs for the community at large and their families. They remember JMM through a direct bequest in their will or through a planned financial vehicle arranged during their lifetimes.

Many financial arrangements that assist JMM in helping those include direct benefits to the donor, such as charitable tax deductions and stable income sources. In fact, well-planned charitable giving vehicles can significantly enhance your ability to meet financial and estate objectives for your family. If you would like to remember JMM through your will or other estate plans, we would like to thank you and provide you with more information about how you can help assure a healthier future.
