DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, July 13 \n10:00 AM – 12:00 PM \nJewish Museum of Maryland \n15 Lloyd Street \nBaltimore\, MD \nJoin the Jewish Museum of Maryland for a morning of fresh intergenerational family offerings at the newly transformed Museum building located in the Jonestown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a participatory museum\, JMM invites your family to engage with and be a part of the story of the Jewish experience in Maryland. \nExplore! Make your way through the new Museum spaces\, interactive displays\, and Museum campus as you turn the pages of the newly released JMM Journeys\, an activity book created by JMM Public Art Coordinator Naomi Rose Weintraub. Learn about portals\, mezuzahs\, Baltimore\, and more! \nEnjoy storytime! Hear an interactive reading of The Story of the Five Balloons\, an English version of a beloved Israeli children’s Hebrew picture book presented by Mother Goose on the Loose. After this timeless story about balloons that pop\, engage in imaginative play and creative activities using colorful scarves. Recommended for families with children ages 3+ \nMake your mark! Color and embellish your own vision for the historic Lloyd Street Synagogue’s Star of David stained glass window. Have your drawing documented at the Animation Station so that it can be shared as part of an evolving community animation produced by JMM’s new audio/video Production Studio. \nExperience Maryland Jewish history! Hear the surprising family stories of Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen through a dynamic intergenerational presentation of her Picturing Past + Present photo submission and the tales behind them. Learn how Maryland Jewish families can submit family photos to become part of this new project and interactive display at JMM. Recommended for families with children ages 5+ \nShare your (favorite) story! You can become a Jewish Museum of Maryland Little Librarian by bringing a favorite book to donate to the Lombard & Lloyd Library\, a give-what-you-can/take-what-you-need community library at the southwest corner of the Museum’s campus. Recommended for families with children ages 3+ \n  \n10:00 AM | Doors open \n10:30 AM | Storytime with Mother Goose on the Loose \n11:00 AM  | Refreshments served \n11:30 AM | Picturing Past + Present: Sharing Our Stories with Dr. Betsy  \n  Diamant-Cohen/Mother Goose on the Loose and family  \n12:00 PM | Program closing \n  \nDr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen is a prolific writer\, creative thinker\, and celebrated family programs presenter. Extensive experience working in public libraries\, children’s museums\, home daycares\, and a preschool both in the U.S. and in Israel has given Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen a unique perspective on children’s learning. A children’s librarian with a doctorate in communications design\, Betsy created the Mother Goose on the Loose (MGOL) early literacy program while living in Israel and brought it to the U.S. when she moved back in 1998. Winner of the Godfrey Award for Excellence in Public Library for children and families\, Mother Goose on the Loose was recognized for “revolutionizing the way storytimes are presented to young children at libraries across the county.” Betsy received the 2022 Association for Library Service to Children’s Distinguished Service Award and the 2018 Alex Vattemare Award for Creativity in Libraries.  \nAttendees will also have the opportunity to explore Next Generations: Turning the Page and Psychedelicatessen: A Powerful Dose of Art (please note that some content in this exhibition may not be appropriate for all ages). Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout their exploration of the Museum campus. \nKosher pareve (non-dairy\, non-meat ingredients) refreshments will be served. \nAdmission is free and open to the public.
