Synagogue Stories

Place matters because, like objects, places are exceedingly good at holding and sharing meaning. Our two synagogue buildings, the 1845 Lloyd Street Synagogue and the 1876 Chizuk Amuno (now B’nai Israel) Synagogue, have been the site of countless stories of joy and loss, learning and loving, conflict and forgiveness. Delve into these pages for the stories imprinted on the bricks and mortar of our historic synagogues.

In this section, you will find stories about our two historic synagogues, including video tours, information about our The Synagogue Speaks exhibit, rental information, and more.
