From Purim to Pesach
Museum Matters, March 2018
This year the month of March is perfectly bookended by commemorations of two great escapes – from the gallows of Persia and from the slavery of Egypt. At JMM we have a full month of great escapes for you to enjoy focused on music, drama, and storytelling as we enter the second half of JMM Live! Check out the details below.
And if you are really just trying to escape the feeling that the world is in a dark place, I especially encourage you to come to one of our special programs dedicated to the work of young people who are engaging with their personal histories.
Later this month we feature the art/history/genealogy projects of more than 80 youth participating in Beit Hatfutsot’s annual international competition on exploring Jewish roots. On the evening of March 22, we see family history through a different lens, with the student participants in Morrell Park: PROJECTED. Both events promise to inspire us by sharing the passion for history in the next generation.
(And speaking of escapes – watch this space in June, we’ll be sharing more details about this summer’s exhibit: Inescapable: The Life and Legacy of Harry Houdini!)
