Hello all! Once more it is Shop Manager Chris!

A blog post by Chris Sniezek, Manager (Esther’s Place).  To read more posts from Chris, click here.

I’m just writing to let everyone know what has been going on with me and the store.

By now I’m sure you have heard that the Jewish Museum of Maryland has an online store where we have put many of the shop items up for purchase. While there are a lot of items already up, I am aware that we are missing some. If you would like to know if there are any store items we have not listed, please feel free to reach out to me at csniezek@jewishmuseummd.org. I can look and see if we have said item and help you along with the purchase.

In some exciting news, we are bringing back the Jewish Penicillin Mugs!

The shop used to sell these fairly regularly, but a year or so ago (according to our records) the manufacturer became overwhelmed by the sheer popularity of the mugs and we were unable to secure any more. Well, no fear because we have created our own version!

These 23oz. mugs all have a black shell, but the inside of the mugs come in four distinct colors: black, red, navy blue, and lime green. These mugs make for perfect gifts and are excellent for any type of home remedy need, be it soup, a big cup of coffee in the morning, or a mug of relaxing tea. You can find these mugs online at our shop for the price of $19.

Outside of work, I have been quite active even if I’m unable to go places. We have been replacing the carpeted floor in my home with hardwood, a task which we have been trying to complete for a couple months now. Since we are all stuck inside, we have magically found the time to complete the task (who woulda thunk it?) We just laid the last board down on Saturday. I’ve also gotten back into reading, a habit I had burnt myself out of in graduate school, and have re-focused my attention on my stacks upon stacks of history books. When not reading or working on the house, I fill my by time removing tree’s from the front yard and quartering the stumps, going for walks outside (as long as I keep 6+ feet apart from people), and playing some video games.

We all are keeping busy in our own ways, and soon we will be able to go back to our favorite spots. What’s your favorite spot? Where do you find good memories? Or, I guess the question I should be asking, once you can, where is going to be the first place you go?

For me, it is definitely going to be Gettysburg, PA.

Reliving all the memories I’ve made there will help relieve the stress of the past three months and prepare me for the future goals I have set. Plus, I really want apple fritters and O’Rourke’s makes the best apple fritters.
