Making Time for Mindfulness

In May, we kicked off Pausing Together, a program that created a space each Wednesday afternoon for community members to join together to journal and reflect. We offered weekly prompts, and participants had the option to submit their work to JMM, either by providing their responses online or by mailing in a physical journal that was provided by the museum.

For the remainder of the summer, we’ve pressed pause on this program, but we still encourage you to create space for reflection during your week. You might be surprised by how much emotion you can tap into in just thirty minutes of writing. In my experience, carving out time on Wednesday afternoons anchored my week and provided a much-needed dose of mindfulness, which I find often gets lost amid deadlines and to-do lists.

We look forward to reconvening our sessions soon. For now, we hope you’ll take a few minutes to reflect on the questions below:

How are you feeling this week?

What are some things that have inspired you since March 2020?

What types of societal or community growth/change would you like to see develop?

What is something that you used to take for granted?

What have you learned about yourself over the past sixteen months?

What are you looking forward to right now?

If you’d like your responses to be added to the historical record, you can share them with JMM here. We would be honored to include your story in our collections.
