Museum Matters: A Day at the Beach

It’s truly summer.  For some of you, this means a looong ride down I-50 to the ocean.  But for those of us looking to relax right here in the city, there couldn’t be a better choice for OUTDOOR fun than JMM.  Yes, JMM is taking to the streets again this month – this time with sketch pad and brushes in hand.  Art instructor, Matthew Adelberg leads a special workshop on plein air art centered on exterior views of the Lloyd Street Synagogue.  This is your opportunity to release your inner Rembrandt or Picasso.  When your neighbors ask what you did last summer, you can say “I made a drawing that went on display at the Museum.”  (And if you want to draw the Synagogue with a beach in the background, who are we to interfere with your natural creativity?)

Our “beach” comes with lifeguards… er, well, at least people who guard your life!  As July turns to August we’ll be featuring a series of Sunday programs dedicated to those who serve in public health.  We are delighted to be able to kick off this series with a presentation by Baltimore’s own City Health Commissioner, Dr. Leana Wen on August 7.  From fire trucks to the front lines, details on all the August programs can be found below.

So avoid the traffic on the bridge and make a turn onto Lloyd Street for an ocean of fun.
