Museum Matters: A Short Month, A Full Calendar
Last Sunday afternoon (January 31), JMM hosted a program titled Beyond Books: Raising an Antiracist Child. The program was a rich, nuanced, and sensitive conversation between Imani Romney-Rosa Chapman and Rabbi Jessy Dressin full of guidance to help us build an antiracist future. As was stated in the program, antiracism is not simply a benevolent act or way of being, it is also an act of self-interest. Everyone benefits from antiracism, just as racism harms us all.
Numerous resources were shared during the program including Making Mensches: A Periodic Table of Character Strengths from the Foundation for Jewish Camp. The staff at the JMM is using this resource as a reference for internal conversations about organizational values.
We are highlighting last week’s program here with hopes that you will visit and revisit the program and continue to find inspiration and meaning in all that it offers.
