Lights & Shadows tells of his family’s flight from the Nazis, his service with the U.S. Armed Forces, and his participation in the postwar transfer of power in Germany. Most of all, though, this handsomely illustrated book—an intergenerational collaboration between Arnold and his younger son, Alan—is the story of one family’s resilience in the face of persecution.
