Featuring live performances of Civil War music, special Curator Tours of the exhibit and debuting our new “1861 Tour” of the Lloyd Street Synagogue.  Come get the first look at our brand new exhibit!

This exhibit, originated by the American Jewish Historical Society and Yeshiva University Museum, examines the way the Civil War changed American Jewish life.  Passages uses rarely seen objects, photographs and letters, as well as three original short films, to offer a unique lens on this period in our history.  We have added four hands-on activity stations to the exhibit and it is perfect for the whole family to discover and learn together.   JMM is also reinterpreting its largest Civil War “object”, the Lloyd Street Synagogue, revealing the role it played in the debate over slavery.
