Jewish Life in Argentina

Speaker: Adriana M. Brodsky

Argentina has the largest Jewish population of South America, consisting of both Ashkenazi and Sephardic communities. Join the JMM as we continue our series of virtual presentations exploring global Jewish life with a trip to South America. During this presentation, we will explore both the history of this community and what Jewish life in Argentina looks like today.
This program will also stream live on our Facebook page here.
Adriana M. Brodsky is a Professor of Latin American and Jewish History at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Her book Sephardi, Jewish, Argentine: Creating Community and National Identity, 1880-1960, appeared in 2016 with Indiana University Press. She has published on Sephardi food, schools, beauty contests, and Latin American Jewish History in general. Currently, she is finishing a manuscript on Argentine youth in Zionist movements (1940s-1970s). She is co-President of the Latin American Jewish Studies Association.
