Join the JMM for the opening of Material/Inheritance: Contemporary Work by New Jewish Culture Fellows, a new exhibition featuring the work of 30 artists whose work has been supported by the New Jewish Culture Fellowship (NJCF), a national arts fellowship that advances the work of groundbreaking Jewish artists.

The event will be a chance to explore the gallery, hear from curator Leora Fridman, and see live musical and multimedia performances, including:

  • 1:00 PM / SONIC MUD: Ugav Nights: Julia Elsas will perform on ceramic sculptures reimagining Biblical musical instruments with collaborators Kenny Wollesen, Kirk Knuffke, and Madeleine Ventrice-Knuffke;
  • 2:00 PM / Seeing it for the Trees: Liat Berdugo will offer a performative lecture critically examining and questioning the role of forests in the Zionist project;
  • 3:00 PM / keler un koyln: Rosza Daniel Lang/Levitsky will present a participatory celebration of Yiddish song and cultural revitalization;
  • 4:00 PM / Covenant of Blood: Ira Khonen Temple and collaborators Rachel Leader, Eleonore Oppenheim, and David Licht will perform a concert engaging Yiddish song to track gender transition and offer trans frameworks for Jewish adulthood.
