, 10:30AM- 12PM

Join us to celebrate the closing of the JMM’s core exhibition Voices of Lombard Street: A Century of Change in East Baltimore at the Jewish Museum of Maryland on the morning of Sunday, October 22.

Voices of Lombard Street tells the stories of the people that have lived, worked, and created community on Lombard Street in East Baltimore, including Jewish and Italian immigrants and African Americans. The Museum’s much-loved core exhibition, which has been on view since 2007, will be coming down to accommodate major renovations in our galleries and a new core exhibition to be launched in 2025.

Come experience the exhibition one last time, enjoy music and local Jewish food, meet members of the JMM community at a time when our building is otherwise closed to the public for the first stage of our capital project, and preview the Museum’s future front of house and next core exhibition. The event will also be a chance to hear from people connected to the exhibition and the neighborhood, and including:

  • Anita Kassof, Executive Director of the Baltimore Museum of Industry, and co-curator of Voices of Lombard Street;
  • Deborah R. Weiner, historian, co-author of On Middle Ground: A History of the Jews of Baltimore, and co-curator of Voices of Lombard Street;
  • Sol Davis, Executive Director of Jewish Museum of Maryland.

Weather permitting, kosher (dairy and pareve) food and drinks will be served outside.

COVID precautions will be communicated closer to the event date.

Admission is free, but capacity is limited. You can register for the event by clicking here.
