February Came in Like a Lion

Museum Matters:February 2019

Ni hao ma? (How are you?)

At the Jewish Museum of Maryland, we’re doing fine, thanks. Come join us in the next five weeks as we explore the stories of an improbable haven for Jewish people during WWII, located halfway around the globe.

We’re using a panel show developed by the Shanghai Jewish Refugee Museum as a platform for a series of outstanding lectures and films. Offerings range from poetry to film to first person accounts by Shanghai refugees.

Reserve your seats now as we expect several of these programs to be sold out.

This February at Esther’s Place, we celebrate themes from new exhibit Jewish Refugees and Shanghai, including family, friendship, resilience, and community. Highlights include Shanghai Sukkah, a story of friendship and new traditions, and our newest custom product: a bilingual memory stone, perfect as a souvenir, personal inspiration, gift, or memorial. We’ll also feature books, Judaica, and homewares that recall home and family.
