Update from JMM: COVID-19 and Programs

As the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation evolves from hour to hour and more information becomes available, we are constantly reassessing our safety procedures and precautions. This morning, following a call with the Associated executives and Lifebridge Health, we made the following decisions:

Public Programs

Given recent advice from medical experts about social distancing, we are postponing and/or cancelling all public programs from March 12 through April 14. The Jeff Place and Nora Guthrie programs have already been rescheduled for June 10 and June 14 respectively and all registrations have been automatically updated.*

If you have already made advance reservations for any of our public programs, we encourage you to consider one of the following options:

>Transfer your ticket payment to a new date (for rescheduled programs) or a new program (for cancelled programs)

>Turn your ticket payment into a donation to JMM as we weather these current challenges

>Receive a payment refund

Please contact our Director of Programs and Visitor Services, Trillion Attwood, to make arrangements: tattwood@jewishmuseummd.org / 443-873-5177.

*If you are unable to attend the new scheduled date, please contact Trillion.

Research Library and Archives

We can sanitize door handles, surfaces and interactives, but there is a limit to what we can do to clean books and papers. For this reason, we are closing the research library from tomorrow through April 14 to all visitors and volunteers.

Synagogue Tours

Additionally, we are encouraging all volunteers in vulnerable population groups not to come in. For this reason, we are reducing our number of tours of our historic synagogues. We will run tours at 11 am and 2 pm only, using a reduced complement of volunteers and staff. Docents, as well as tour participants, will be offered disposable gloves, as conservation rules would prevent complete sanitation of historic wooden surfaces.

Museum Hours

With these important modifications the Museum will try to stay open for the duration. Staff will focus on preparing for brighter days ahead when we open Jews in Space at the end of May.

Updates, policy changes, and rescheduled dates for our public programs will be posted to our website and shared on all our social media channels as they arrive.

If you have any questions, please contact feel free to contact me or Tracie Guy-Decker.
