Volunteers by the Numbers

In the last 12 months, the JMM has welcomed 13 new volunteers, to bring our volunteer corps total to 60.  All together, over 5,800 hours of their time was donated to the museum.  Plus, we look forward to welcoming additional Special Events volunteers for our upcoming exhibit The Electrified Pickle which runs from July 13 through August 14.  A special appeal was sent through IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) to Engineers who would like to volunteer in the exhibit—space is still available if anyone is interested.

While the contributions of all of our volunteers are inspiring, these figures are particularly notable, from a numbers perspective:

1. Sid created 517 folders for the new BLEWS collection.
2. Marty & Vera entered 7,500 birth records.  This spread sheet is available on our website and assists researchers and genealogists.
3. Marvin has scanned over 6,000 images.
4. Dana has made over 2,400 records (with attached images) for Yeshivat Rambam.
5. Sylvia has worked on 300 records in the MS 80 collection – attaching photographs, writing descriptions of each and developing search terms.

 

The above mentioned volunteers worked under the direction of Jobi Zink, Senior Collections Manager, who is departing the JMM this month to move onto another job.  She will be missed dearly and we all feel fortunate to have had the chance to work together.
