Zap! Pow! Bam! Opens with a Bang!

A blog post by Visitor Services Coordinator Abby Krolik.

Zap! Pow! Bam! opened with a bang at the JMM this weekend! I was so excited to finally see the completed exhibit last Thursday after watching them bring in all the crates and boxes and hearing strange noises emerge from the Feldman Gallery. And this weekend, the general public finally got to see it too.

78 very special people attended our preview night on Saturday, and a whopping 175 people came on Sunday! We had several mini Supermans, Supergirls, Spidermans (even though he’s only Silver Age, not Golden Age), and Batmans running around, squealing with delight over the exhibit, the free candy, and our guest of honor: Batman! (You can hear more about our suspenseful search for Batman when Rachel Cylus writes her blog post.)

All in all, a wonderful opening weekend was had by all, and we look forward to seeing more visitors’ faces light up when they see the exhibit!

I cannot explain sufficiently just how difficult it was to pick out my favorite photos from the mass of photos of impossibly cute children in costumes, so I’ll leave you with just 3 cute ones and a fourth one of some staff members/volunteers with Batman.

EXCELLENT exhibit. I could not get my children out of the phone booth! They enjoyed the exhibit, crafts and all the wonderful Superhero items in the Gift Shop. The gift shop assortment selection is a MUST SEE!!!!!
