We designed our studio to shift visitors from listening to creating. Rooted in our commitment to community storytelling, the studio welcomes you to record reflections, capture conversations, and experiment with new ideas. Whether this is your first time in a recording room or a familiar part of your creative work, our team will walk you through the process step by step.
Frequently Asked Questions
Anyone is welcome to record, whether you’re a community member, artist, researcher, or visitor. If you’d like to join our open studio hours, standard Museum admission applies.
The Jewish Museum of Maryland retains ownership of materials created in the audiovisual production studio unless another agreement is reached. When you record in the studio, you’ll be prompted to sign a release.

Open studio sessions are included in the cost of admission. Specialized or extended projects may have associated costs — please connect with us for details.
During open studio hours, we record individual and group reflections. The studio is equipped for audio and video recording, including podcasts, oral histories, music, and interviews.
In most cases, individual or small group open studio reflections last about 20 minutes.
