Chaperones are key to making your students’ visit to the JMM a success! We request one chaperone (teacher or adult) per 10 students. The chaperones are responsible for student behavior while at the JMM. Please make sure all adults visiting with your group have read and understood our Museum Field Trip Tips.
JMM strives to make our education programs available to, and inclusive of, all students. At the time of your booking, please share with our team any additional information that will help us support your students during their visit. Visit our Accessibility Page to learn more.
To make sure that everyone has a positive learning experience during their visit, please review these helpful tips with your students before you arrive:
- Have fun! Your visit is meant to be an inspiring and exciting experience.
- Please ask lots of questions!
- Please listen to the Museum Educators while they are speaking. Our Educators have lots of interesting information to share.
- Please ask questions by raising your hands.
- Please be respectful while visiting the Museum. Remember to walk and use your inside voice.
- Please do not take food or drink into the gallery spaces. Our Educators will show you where you can store your food and drink until it is time to enjoy them.
- We care for many special objects at the Museum. Please ask an Educator before touching any objects.
- Synagogues are sacred spaces and therefore we should all use our best behavior visiting them.
JMM is pleased to provide one complimentary bus for Maryland Public Schools.
There is a drop-off/loading zone directly in front of the museum’s entrance, which buses are welcome to use.
JMM Maryland Public School programs are generously supported by the Cohen Opportunity Fund (a Donor Advised Fund of The Associated).
JMM does not have a cafeteria or dedicated lunchroom. You are welcome to bring your packed lunches to enjoy in our Arcade, or, weather permitting, you can eat your lunch in our courtyard. Please request lunch facilities at the time of booking.
No food or drinks are allowed inside the exhibit spaces.
When you arrive, a member of our team will greet you at the front desk. They will have a brightly colored bin for your group to store their coats, backpacks, and packed lunches. This bin is stored where education programs take place.
If an item is lost or misplaced during your visit, please contact our front desk: 410.732.6400 or info@jewishmuseummd.org
JMM Staff regularly take photos during your scheduled visit. These photos are archived in our institutional records and may be used in our publications, both online and in print. We love sharing photos from your visits with you and with our community! These photos may be shared on the JMM’s social media platforms. Please let us know ahead of time if you are not comfortable with our staff taking photos of your group.
You can also take photos of your experience! Please do not use flash photography when you are in our exhibit spaces. Don’t forget to share your photos with us!
We can’t control the weather, and this means that sometimes field trips need to be canceled when the weather is bad. If the JMM is closed due to bad weather, you will be contacted by 8:00 am the day of your visit. We hope that we will be able to reschedule your visit for another date.
If you are unable to visit the Museum due to the weather, please reach out to us as soon as possible.
Extend your students’ learning with a joint field trip! The Jewish Museum of Maryland is pleased to regularly partner with the Reginald F. Lewis Museum, the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House, and the Baltimore Museum of Industry. We are happy to assist in coordinating a joint field trip. Please let us know at the time of booking.
