The Lloyd Street Synagogue at 175
An Exhibit in Honor of its 175th Anniversary
On view in the JMM Orientation Plaza, through March 21, 2021
In celebration of the 175th anniversary of the Lloyd Street Synagogue, we have brought out some of the artifacts, documents, and photographs from our collection that tell stories of the people who have contributed to the building’s long life and history.
The synagogue has been home over the years to Baltimore Hebrew Congregation, St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Shomrei Mishmeres HaKodesh, and the Jewish Historical Society (now the Jewish Museum) of Maryland. In each iteration, passionate and committed community members have made their mark in ways both big and small.
